winter and construction design is run under the creative direction of Susan Fireside.

Twenty years experience working in top graphic design studios and agencies has given winter and construction design its foundation for running a successful boutique design studio. We work closely with you. By keeping an intimate group we know our clients needs and we keep communication open.

The goal is to work smarter. To partner with the right people depending on the project and to streamline the process. We work with marketing and brand strategists, photographers, illustrators, copywriters, public relations firms and programmers to get the job done.

By definition a boutique is any small, exclusive business offering customized service specializing in one aspect of a larger industry.

What's with the name?
The name plays homage to the saying that in Chicago there are only two seasons: winter and construction. It’s a nod to our roots and a way of looking at something differently. While most design studios are named after a founder, we chose to establish a brand that shows our creativity and sets us apart.

Size matters.
winter and construction design understands that sometimes more levels of input and critique than you could imagine can slow down the creative process to the point of inevitable frustration and missed or moved deadlines. Sound familiar? Sometimes the frustrations that clients feel are also the same that creative's have. This can change when choosing to work with a smaller company.
